I appreciate all the thought and effort it took to pull this together. I've been deeply intimate with someone who was also told by his family, "You're better with strangers than you are with family." We have an intimate language that is deep and understanding but doesn't include lots of what we've chosen not to include. I've noticed during my life that at time people sit down and pour out their heart to me, sharing that some of what they are sharing they have never shared with another living soul. I've known my soul to be an ice breaker of sorts... I really love the depth with which you explored and explained so much about the gift of intimacy.

Intimacy is such a valuable word and way to think about our various relationships. Sometimes, naming something helps us recognize what we're really after, and I think that's what this essay does.
