Apologies.
Whatever my talents as a writer, my talents as a mathematician are sorely lacking. In discussing the some time Rembrandt in my last post, I compared $15k to $15m and said the latter was ten times the former. The answer is not 10 but 1000.
In 2021, the painting’s value was estimated to be £10-15K, but due to rumours that it might be a genuine Rembrandt, it sold for £860K.
After considerable research by the new owners, it was proclaimed to be “a really significant Rembrandt” and put up for sale at Sotheby’s with an estimate of £15m.
Yes, ten times the 2021 estimate.
Oh dear. This made my husband laugh out loud. I could claim I was just trying to keep you on your toes, but I would be lying.
Thanks to Beth of Australia for pointing this out.
Who else noticed?
Ah my dear. I thought you’d just do a delicate little correction and no one would be any the wiser!! (I was all ready to amend my comment and all would disappear into the ether.) Ah well. Some of us like to ‘own’ our mistakes no matter how insignificant. Take care dear soul. Sending heaps of hugs and best wishes. 🤗😘
My father's oft used phrase was: "Too soon oldt, but too late schmart!"
Bear that in mind if and when you get 'oldt.'❣️
